For a full breakdown of how AssemblyAI maintains audio and transcript data, see Data retention and model training. For Pre-recorded STT, Final Transcription Artifacts (transcripts) are stored for 30 days by default and are automatically deleted after that. You can shorten this window by setting a time-to-live (TTL) on the Data Controls page in the dashboard — presets of 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, and 30 days are available, or you can set a Custom value. See Set a time-to-live for audio and transcripts. For customers with a BAA, all transcripts generated via the async transcription endpoint are deleted after the TTL period (currently set to 3 days by default). You can also delete individual transcripts on demand via the DELETE endpoint.
