For a full breakdown of how AssemblyAI maintains audio and transcript data, see Data retention and model training. For Async STT, Final Transcription Artifacts (transcripts) are stored for 30 days by default and are automatically deleted after that. You can shorten this window by setting a time-to-live (TTL) on the Data Controls page in the dashboard — presets of 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, and 30 days are available, or you can set a Custom value. See Set a time-to-live for audio and transcripts. For customers with a BAA, all transcripts generated via the async transcription endpoint are deleted after the TTL period (currently set to 3 days by default). You can also delete individual transcripts on demand via the DELETE endpoint.
